2013 Vina Ventisquero 'Grey' GCM

28.00
The 2013 Grey GCM is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre (Garnacha, Carinena and Monastrell), 50/25/25 approximately, from Apalta from plants on terraced slopes that were grafted on 10-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon plants in 2009, as they found the climate was too warm for Cabernet. The wine aged for six months in used barrels. With its grapy nose of fresh fruit, where the Grenache character seems to dominate the blend, it should be ideal to drink fresh during the summer. It has a fluid texture with a slightly bitter finish. 10,000 bottles produced. Drink now. Ventisquero is a family-owned winery; they now work 1,500 hectares of vineyards in seven different locations, from Atacama in the north to the south of the country. They only use grapes from their own vineyards. They are experimenting with Mediterranean grape varieties and bigger-sized oak containers, soon starting with 2,000-liter foudres.
